We’d Love to Meet You
Visiting a new church for the first time can be intimidating. Our hope is that the idea of visiting us can be less intimidating and more of an exciting new adventure with God.
Most of us here at St Nick’s were, at some point in our lives, where you are now:
Contemplating visiting something unfamiliar called “The Episcopal Church”.
We want to do whatever we can to make your visit with us as comfortable as possible.
What to Expect:
If you are primarily familiar with a liturgical style of worship, then you will likely feel right at home here.
If you are not familiar with liturgical worship, then it will possibly be a bit of an adjustment for you. Remember, most of us were right there too at one point or another.
The first thing will be to decide which service to attend. For that, we have detailed descriptions on our Worship Page.
Beyond that, just a few things to know:
You have an important part to play in our worship (we can’t do it without you!). There will be parts of the service where “the People” (that’s you) respond as the priest leads worship. Those are bolded in our worship materials. If you don’t feel comfortable doing that, it’s ok to wait until you do.
We celebrate the Eucharist and receive Holy Communion every Sunday! We welcome every Christian to participate in the Lord’s Supper and receive Holy Communion. If you have a concern or need, please be sure to let our priest know.
There are a number of things that happen in our services that may be new to you. We hope you have many years to learn them and the reasons behind them. For your first visit, please know that you don’t need to stress. Follow along as best you can and if you have questions, please ask! Otherwise, please know you can relax and absorb the experience without worry of being judged. We all needed to learn at some point and we’ll be happy to teach you too!
Where to park:
Any visitor to our church is welcome to park anywhere in the parking lot in front of our building.
If you are visiting the 10am service, we recommend you park close to the main building entrance. From there, there will be a series of signs starting at the front desk that say “Chapel” directing you to the elevator upstairs and right to the chapel door.
If you are attending the 5pm service, it is best to park near the sign that says “Sanctuary”.
What to wear:
You are more than welcome to wear whatever you feel will be most comfortable for you.
Whether that be a three-piece suit, sweatpants and a t-shirt or anything in-between, we believe you deserve to worship God without appeasing a dress code.
